I am a long time Sunshine Coast resident, working to keep our Sunshine Coast skies safe for over 20 years as an air traffic controller. I live in Twin Waters with my husband where we are raising our children.
Aviation
I have been a procedural approach air traffic controller at the Sunshine Coast Tower since 2004. My job is incredibly rewarding and something I am proud of. I have acted in the role of unit tower supervisor, I am a check controller and a training officer. I have been ATC subject matter expert for both the Sunshine Coast Airport Expansion Project and the Sunshine Coast Surveillance Approach Project.
I served two years as a Director for the local aero club and I continue to remain active in our wider airport community with a particular focus on building networks in aviation.
My studies
I have completed a Graduate Certificate in Aviation Human Factors and I am currently studying a Bachelor of Social Science (Major Security and Counter Terrorism) with Swinburne Online. My studies have provided me with an advanced understanding of International Relations and both traditional and emerging security issues,
In the community
I value my interactions with others in my community. I am proud to have established a local young aviators group, I am the treasurer of the Sunshine Coast Reconciliation Group and I volunteer for various groups including OzHarvest, Bush Care and parkrun. I enjoy the time I spend mentoring women in aviation and students at university. I have benefited from the experience of many who have come before me and I enjoy assisting others on their pathway to success.
Politics
I encourage all with an interest in politics to become involved in a way they feel comfortable with. I joined the Australian Labor Party after completing an Australian Politics subject in 2020. I have been elected as a delegate to State Conference and Federal Conference, I enjoy representing my fellow Fairfax Labor members by taking their concerns, issues and suggestions to conference to be included in policy debate. Standing as the Labor candidate for Maroochydore in the 2024 Queensland State Election was an honour and I was extremely proud of the achievements I made during the campaign.
I am looking forward to my next challenge, working to build fairness, security and opportunity for the Federal electorate of Fairfax.
